Medpet Treatment Schemes

MEDPET PRE-RACING SEASON TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR PIGEONS:

(4 weeks)

POX: All pigeons should be vaccinated with Medipox at least 8 weeks prior to contact with other pigeons.

MALARIA: Pigeons to be treated for 10 consecutive days with Primaquin 5 weeks before racing commences.

– Intestum can also be used in the place of the Entero-Plus but not when using antibiotics from the Tetracycline

family due to the presence of Calcium in the product.

– Entero-Plus and Intestum can both be applied to the feed but only Entero-Plus is water soluble. Clean water

should be made available when applying these products to the feed.

– Canker Treatment: Any of the following Canker products are compatible: Cankerex-Plus, Emtryl or Medizole.

(Please note Canker products containing Dimetrinidazole should not be used when pigeons are feeding their young

or at times when the water uptake is very high i.e very hot weather.)

– Respiratory treatment should be carried out for 7 days prior to racing.

– Beta-Glucans (Medimune). We believe that if given just prior and at time of vaccination it increases the

effectiveness of the vaccine.
